Rainbow Minute: Science Fiction/Fantasy World of Warren Rochelle

“The Science Fiction and Fantasy World of Warren Rochelle, coming up now on “The Rainbow Minute.”

Born in 1954, and growing up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Warren Rochelle was a born storyteller. He was inspired by his first grade teacher and the stories he heard on the TV serial Captain Kangaroo, but his reading of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis in third grade clinched his desire to be a writer.

His interest in science fiction was sparked by images from “Superman”, “The Blob,” “Invaders From Mars,” and “Lost in Space.”

After earning a PhD in English in 1997, Rochelle published his first novel, The Wild Boy, in 2001. He is a professor of creative writing and literature at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, sometimes teaching a class on C. S. Lewis, the author who first inspired him.

“The Rainbow Minute” is produced by Judd Proctor and Brian Burns at WRIR in Richmond, Virginia, and read by volunteers like me, Vaughan Gary.
